HOPPER PASSENGERS TEA PARTY TOOK PLACE ON WED 13TH AUGUST - WHAT A GREAT DAY!

Our 3rd consecutive annual tea-party for Hopper passengers took place on 13 August. Thank you to our lovely passengers who came and indulged in tea, coffee and some delicious home-made cakes. Four cakes were made by Penny and one by Jude - two of our volunteer drivers, and there was also a chocolate cake and some cookies made by regular passenger, Melinda with a whole tray of bread pudding made by passenger, John, from Eastmoor Park.

There were around 60 of our passengers plus many of the drivers too.

We all had a good chat and listened to some updates from our Chair, Andy Buchanan.

Councillor Terry Heritage, now Mayor of the City and District of St Albans attended too. Terry is also a Trustee of Harpenden Connect Limited, the charity that operates the Harpenden Hopper community minibus service.

Madeleine Clark, who is the Community Services Manager for Harpenden Town Council also came along. Madeleine spent a whole morning on the Harpenden Hopper a few weeks ago, listening and talking to many of our passengers.

Any route issues or news?

Week commencing Monday 1st September 2025

A normal schedule is in operation this week.

Please note the following:

  • There are roadworks in Roundwood Lane commencing 1st September and running until 9th September. The Hopper service will operate a diversion along Faulkners Field and Roundwood Park. This means that the Hopper will run the opposite way along Park Rise - so don’t be surprised to see the bus coming the “wrong” way. There may be delays too.

  • The 3rd annual Hopper passengers’ tea-party took place on Wednesday 13th August. We were delighted to see so many of our customers chatting, drinking tea or coffee and indulging in some of the delicious home-made cakes (made by Penny (mostly) and Jude - two of the drivers as well as some made by Melinda and John - both regular passengers).

See above for more details and link to the photo gallery.

Everyone remarked what a wonderful morning we all had.
