Harpenden Hopper passengers’ day out

On Wednesday 18th March 2026 a large group of regular Harpenden Hopper passengers were collected and taken for a marvellous day out to Frosts Garden Centre just outside Woburn Sands. The weather was glorious and the passengers had a great time, firstly chatting and singing (a little) on the journey there and then at the centre itself. There was so much to do and see - not to mention tea and coffee and then lunch. Hopper volunteer drivers Richard Cooke and Jude Caunce were in charge for the day. Both Richard and Jude did the driving and Jude kept “order”. Here are some of the comments and feedback from the day:

"The outing was wonderful, I just can't fault it. When's the next one?"

"Thank you for arranging such a wonderful trip to Frost's Garden Centre for us. It was the perfect day out."

"It was a really super trip, excellent drivers as usual and a lovely group of people. Thank you so much for giving up your time."

"I loved seeing the countryside. It was so nice to be out and about. A lovely day, thank you very much."

"A lovely day, excellent."

"Ten stars out of ten to the Trustees for letting us go, ten stars out of ten to the drivers and ten stars out of ten for the ambience of the day."

"A really lovely day."

"It could not have been a better day. Thank you so much."

"It has been a real treat and you have been so kind looking after us all."

"It was a really enjoyable day and well organised. Thank you so much."

The trip had originally been planned for December just before Christmas; but Harold Hopper minibus was “poorly” so the trip was postponed until this week. How lucky to have had such brilliant weather too. It made the day just perfect for everyone.

The trip is a prime example of the Hopper community that has been created by just running the scheduled service. Lasting friendships have been created which has made everyone’s lives richer. We now look forward to the next planned event - which hopefully won’t be too far off!
